Class Stars!!

Our final Class Stars for the year... William, Caitlin, Shaun, Amelia, Shevin and Molly

Shakespeare!!

We have been learning about William Shakespeare this term.  It has been great to see how much the students engaged in this.  Shakespeare Folders went home a few days ago. Shakespeare moulded a lot of the language we use today and his plays have themes that are still relevant now.  In fact, Gnomeo and Juliet is obviously based on one of his plays, and The Lion King is based on Macbeth.

William Shakespeare was really good at poems - Fletcher.

His Mum was called Mary and his dad was called John - Molly.

He died in 1616 - Caitlin.

He made up phrases and words we still use today - Olive.

He died on his 52 birthday - Noah.

He wrote very good plays that are still being played today - Andres.

He built the Globe theatre.  It burnt down though. - Poppy.

He came up with good insults. - Tom.

He saw his first play when he was 5 years old - Amelia.

He had three children called Susanna, Hamnet and Judith - Shaun.

Christmas Cooking

We had a fabulous day cooking on Monday!  We made Chocolate Balls, White Christmas and Fruit and Spice Muffins.  All the students took home a package with one of each of these in it, as well as sampling some in class.  The recipes are all in their Christmas Cooking Book which they will be bringing home tomorrow.

1:1 MacBook Program

Hello All
The 1:1 MacBook Program starts for your child next year.  If you haven't bought a computer yet, and you plan to over the holidays, you can bring it in to the school office to be imaged anytime during the two days before school goes back next year.  It is anticipated that the MacBooks will be used from Day 1 in Year 4 so they will need to be prepared.
Thank you
Julia Calvert

Week 10 - Important Information

We have come to the final week of the year!!  It seems to have passed so quickly.  Here is some important information needed for this week:

Monday
We are cooking in the morning so students can bring an apron if they have them.
It is also Transition Day- from 1.30 - 2.15pm students will be meeting their new teacher in their new classes.

Tuesday
Class Party Day.  Girls bring savoury and boys bring sweet (although if boys want to bring a savoury that's OK).  Any warm food will need to be delivered by 12pm.  Please do not send anything that needs refrigeration as I won't have access. I will bring drinks and plates.
We will also be playing a Christmas Game at the party. Any students that wish to play need to bring in a Christmas Tree decoration (cost around $5) wrapped up.

Thursday
Last day of Year 3.  I have been sending home books as we finish with them so there shouldn't be too much coming home on this day!!

End of Year Concert Information

Dear Parents and Families,

The end of the school year is fast approaching and we are preparing for our annual End of Year Concert.
This year, the concert will be held on the evening of Wednesday 7th December on the school oval. It is always a memorable evening with each year group performing an item, the presentation of class LEAF awards and a celebration of a successful school year. The evening will begin at 5.30pm and should finish by approximately 7.30pm.

The theme of the concert this year is 'AGPS: At the Movies'. All K-6 students have been rehearsing and preparing for the night and I know they can't wait to perform for you all!

On the night we will have the parent spectator area roped off into two sections:

1. The first section will be for blankets and people sitting on the ground.
2. The second area behind the blanket area will be for fold out chairs and people standing up.

We hope that by doing this, everyone can get a good view and enjoy the night.

Please note the following important details:

  • This year we have over 1100 students participating in the End of Year Concert which makes it a huge logistical event to plan and run on the night. The movement and transitions of such a large number of students is difficult to manage and must take precedence.
  • Students need to be dropped off in costume at their classroom at 5.00pm so that teachers can walk students down to the oval and get everyone into position for a prompt 5.30pm start. The area for the students will be roped off and only school staff will be permitted to enter this area.
  • Immediately after the Kindergarten and PP students have performed, parents will be asked to collect their children from teachers.
  • At the conclusion of the evening all Year 1-6 students will return to classrooms with teachers and then be released to parents.
  • I ask that all parents remember that it is the children and their needs that are our first priority. We will do our best to cater for the needs of the parents too.
  • I urge parents to get into the Christmas spirit and the feel of a 'kid friendly' event by being considerate to everyone else when locating their chairs, taking photos and standing up.

As this is a school concert with children attending, please remember that the concert is an alcohol free event.

Finally, when parking your car please stay away from local residents' driveways. In the past, people attending our events such as the Christmas Concert and Open Night have parked in driveways blocking in the owner so that they are unable to leave their own house by car.

The City of Cockburn Ranger is aware of our Christmas Concert and will be present. Please don't risk a fine by parking in the wrong place.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

Kind regards

Frank Pansini
